気温が上がったり下がったりの毎日ですが、2008年最後の今日は雪。
マイナスな最高気温で雪＆寒いカウントダウンになりそうです。
（日本はもう「新年」だけども）

フロリダ旅行から帰ってきたらクリスマスシーズンに突入しており、
街も静かでなんとなく年末の雰囲気。
手には地図と大きなカメラを抱えた旅行者の姿が目立ちます。

ニューヨークでの2008年はあと10時間ほど。
すでに新年という日本とは違うので、改めて時差の面白さを感じております。

今年も色々ありました。ニューヨーク生活2年目を迎え暮らしていたのですが、
まだまだ新入生であることには変わらず、驚き初体験もたくさんあったなぁ。

そして、ニューヨーク以外でもアメリカを旅したなぁ。
ボストン／サンフランシスコ／フロリダ…。
サンフランシスコまで8時間という飛行機の旅はアメリカの大きさを実感しました。
こんなにも気候が違うのか！という体験をしたのはフロリダ旅行。

ニューヨークのマンハッタン内でも1ブロック行けば違う世界が待っているというのに、
州が違えば驚くほど色々な文化がそこにはある訳で。言葉も習慣も文化も。
でっかいでっかいアメリカ合衆国。よくひとつの国として成立しているなぁ…と思います。

そんな、ある意味何でもアリの広大な国にいると、小さな島国ニッポンのことも違って見えます。
イイ所／悪い所それぞれあるけれど、ニッポンは素晴らしい！それに尽きます。
一時帰国したときにそれを再確認した訳で。

ちょっと日本を離れた私が思うのだから、外国人から見たらどう映るんだろう？
…この話はまた次回ゆっくりと。

国が違えば当然色々と驚き体験があるのですが、「人」だなぁ…としみじみ思う年の瀬。
信頼できる人がいれば、どこにいても何をしていても基本は変わらないのだと思います。
色々な人に会うことができたことが、今年の最大の収穫でした。

それでは、よいお年を＆来年もよい年になりますように。

It will be a New Year in ten hours in NY. It's already New Year in Japan, thgouh...
I've been in NY for one and half year now. I had many experiences in this year, also went to some places in the US: Boston, San Fransico and Florida. I realized that the US was really really huge country when I travel somewhere. It's hard to realize how huge the US is because Japan is very small island. There are tons of culture in each state or are in the US. They are totally different such as I am in the other country. I am still not used to understand this situation. I also can't belive the US is one country. There are too many different things and people. I'm interested in the 'differences' but also realized how great country Japan is. Especially, I felt it when I went back to Japan in fall. I'm proud of being Japanese and our culture again. I will write about Japan from foreigners' pont of view next time.
Anyway, the most important thing is 'people' wherever or what I do, I think. I would alive anywhere if I were with people who I deeply trust. I've met many people in this year, that was really precious experiences. I hope it will be a great year in 2009 for everyone.
